Credit Calculator

At CQUniversity, we often recognise the skills and knowledge gained from prior learning and experience. You may be eligible for credit transfer (also known as course credits, recognition of prior learning, or exemptions) if you are able to demonstrate appropriate prior learning.

The credit calculator found on this page will provide you with advice on the credits you may be granted. Please use the search below to determine possible credits towards a CQUniversity qualification. If you find that the calculator is unable to assist you, please be assured that this is not a formal assessment. You may still be eligible for credit pending a full assessment of your individual circumstances.

Formal credits granted may differ from the information displayed by the credit calculator, as credits are assessed based on individual circumstances and documentation. Once you have accepted your offer to enrol at CQUniversity, your credit application will be formally assessed and a final outcome will be granted.

If you need help using the Credit Calculator or have any questions, please refer to our FAQ page.

International students can apply for a credit pre-assessment through iStart, our easy to use online application system for international students. The Credit Calculator can be used to obtain an estimate of credit; however, you should not use it to apply for an official credit pre-assessment.

Students who are unable to find their institution in the Credit Calculator can submit an application directly through the Credit Applcation Form

Course credit - This type of search is recommended for most situations. Use it to find any credit opportunities that may be applicable to the previous course you have studied. This search is particularly recommended for prior VET/TAFE studies and for students wishing to change from one CQUniversity course to another.

Please note that the ‘Course credit’ search will also return any relevant ‘Unit specific’ results.

Unit specific credit – Perform this type of search if you know the exact unit codes for your prior learning, and have only completed a small number of units (a maximum of eight). You should also use this type of search if you are ready to apply for credit based on the completion of specific units, as any units you enter in the search fields will be automatically listed on the Credit Application form.
